The Too Long Story

Ok, back to the Reality Dysfunction. The book that started out awkward, then became fascinating is now drudgery. I am almost finished with the second book and the thought of this story continuing for four more books is more than I can bear. Usually I just read the last couple of chapters when I am bored with a story so I can get "closure" but with a story that lasts 6 books doesn't give me that capability. How will I know the ending unless I plow through all those pages? Is it worth it? I will probably finish it and then sleep for a week to recover from the strain.

  1. Just plough through! Get the words down, take a break, and you can revisit it later. Good luck!

  2. I always try to finish the books I start, but sometimes it's just not for me and I want to get on to another book.

  3. If it's really that bad, you might be able to get a summary of the whole story online?

  4. No it's never worth it. Just figure you enjoyed the first part and skim through to the rest but why read 6 volumes when you're not enjoying it any more? Life is too short! There are too many good books out there!

  5. Hi!

This is where something like the Reader's Digest digested read would come in handy! :-)

I think you're doing ever so well though and I do appreciate what you mean. Hang on in there!!! The other books might pick up and you might be pleasantly surprised. Here's hoping anyway!

    Take care

  7. Talli, I wish I had the creativity to write novels but I don't. I am a hanger-on. I follow writers and wish for talent but have none. I would even like the creativity to think up this too long story.

Karen, I can't skim it. I feel like I am missing the good part. I will agree with Niki. If I don't read it all I will be haunted by the story.

Alesa, a summary would be great. Perhaps I should just ask the friend who lent me the books to tell me the ending...but probably not. I will take them to Costa Rica and spare the risk to my Kindle.

  8. I would have to keep at it too. Just in case I missed something good. Eat chocolate!
