Stability is over rated
My entire life I have been looking forward to the time when things settle down. I have been busy about my life jumping from one university to another, one job to another, one apartment to another, always thinking that soon I could settle down in a little house with a little job and a little family. I have been at my current hospital for one full year, and although I really like it I have discovered something about myself I never knew. I do not want stability, I do not want dependability. I want to go back to travel nursing where I am looking for a new job every three months, in a new apartment every six. I didn't see the world as most of my jobs were in the LA area, but the change was something I looked forward to. I am now faced with the thought that I will be here for another 1 1/2 years. No more travel nursing, no more moving. The gypsy part of my blood that I never new existed is crying.

Nice to know you are a fellow gypsy. My mother used to say, the only time I was truly happy was when I was packing a suitcase! Even if I was only moving across the street.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize I had those gypsy tendencies until she pointed it out to me many many years ago in those BH & BC years.
A year and a half will fly by and before you know it you will be packing boxes for new horizons.

ReplyDeleteYou have the wanderlust! Well good for you! It's great that you know what you don't want and are now more focused on what you really want. Which is all to the good, yay!
I agree with Ann - the year and a half will fly by so quickly it'll then be time to let your gypsy spirit out and embrace it full time!

ReplyDeleteHello! At least you really like the place where you are currently - that is a bonus. And you can always spend the next year and a half planning where you will go next, as well as maybe some day trips / weekends away here and there? It might not totally satisfy your wanderlust for now, but exploring is always great fun. :)
